Ardent is a simple and chic one skein wonder for those treasured single skeins in your stash.

And with over 800 Ardent projects on Ravelry, there’s plenty of inspiration for yarn and colour choices!

You knit this shawl on the bias for a slightly asymmetric triangle shape. The alternating garter stitch and eyelet sections make it a fun just-one-more-row project that grows quickly on your needles.

Ardent is knitted diagonally from one corner to the opposite side of the triangle with increases on one side and decreases on the other. You work the shawl by alternating garter stitch and eyelet lace sections.

The pattern has complete written instructions and optional charted instructions for the lace, so you can use whichever you find easiest to follow.

You’ll need about 400 m / 437 yds of fingering weight yarn for Ardent.

I used one skein of Malabrigo Yarn Sock (100% merino wool; 402 m / 440 yds per 100 g) in colourway Ochre for my third Ardent. I love this happy yellow!

I’ve also seen beautiful versions knitted with Madelinetosh Tosh Sock, Garnstudio Drops Alpaca, Holst Garn Noble, Hedgehog Fibres Sock, Manos del Uruguay Fino and LolaBean Yarn Co. String Bean. What yarn will you choose?
