Forest Floor rectangle shawl pattern from Woolenberry

Defying the freezing cold and light snowfall, our family headed to the nearby woods yesterday for a quick photo shoot before the sun went down.

Which means that today I can finally share Forest Floor shawl with you!

Forest Floor is a minimal and sleek rectangular shawl with clean lines and sophisticated simplicity.

You work the shawl in continuous vertical eyelet columns and quatrefoil lace, which reminds of small leaves or flowers.

And it’s knitted entirely on garter stitch, so there’s no purling!

I used 2 skeins of The Uncommon Thread Silky Merino Fingering (75% merino, 25% silk; 402 m / 440 yds per 100 g) in colourway Bois.

You’ll need about 769 m / 840 yds of similar fingering weight yarn.

But you can also work your shawl to any size (and yarn amount) you want. The pattern includes instructions for how to modify both the length and width.

To showcase the pattern at its best, I suggest using solid, semi-solid or only lightly speckled yarns.
