On my needles: Rectangle beauty for the 2021 Shawl Club
Here’s a little teaser of a new shawl design, Summer Dreams, I’m working on.
Summer Dreams is the second pattern in the 2021 Shawl Club. It’s a sleek rectangle with eyelets, garter stitch and mesh lace.
For this shawl, I wanted to play with vertical and horizontal directions for the eyelets.
Summer Dreams shawl has vertical eyelet stripes and mesh columns, and horizontal mesh blocks. And because the shawl is knitted on the bias, they run diagonally and create a dynamic and modern look.
I have two skeins of The Fibre Co. Meadow (40% wool, 25% llama, 20% silk, 15% linen; 498 m / 545 yds per 100 g) in the Aster colourway. It’s a beautiful light blue with whispers of lavender here and there.
This yarn is a light fingering weight, but if you have trouble finding a similar, lace weight and fingering weight yarns will work great too.
Stitch definition is not crucial for this project, so you can choose pretty much any yarn you want. Linen yarn would create the ultimate summer wrap! Or how about a shiny and flowy shawl for fancy occasions using silk yarn?
The Summer Dreams pattern is only available to members of the 2021 Shawl Club. But if you’re not a member yet, it’s not too late to join!
By joining now, you get immediate access to Spring Sparkle, which was the first pattern in this year’s Shawl Club. Then you’ll receive the three remaining patterns as soon as they go live (in June, September and December). The club price is a one-time payment and includes all 4 shawl patterns.
Already a member of the 2021 Shawl Club? I’ll send Summer Dreams pattern to you as soon as it goes live.
You can already start foraging your stash (or your favourite yarn shop :) for the perfect yarn. Two skeins (about 200 g) of lace to light fingering weight yarn is what you’ll need.
