New knit collection: Nordic Winter

January 11, 2018
By Janina Kallio

I have a fun surprise for you! I’ve been quietly working on this new wintery collection and I’m thrilled to finally share it with you. The patterns in Nordic Winter collection are perfect whether you are going ice skating or skiing, building snowmen or just wanting to hibernate all winter.

Nordic Winter collection includes three new patterns, a bottom-up triangle shawl Northern Sky, a quick and fun beanie First Frost, and a warm and plush cowl/tube scarf Wintering. These three patterns are all winter classics with clean lines and pretty texture. They are perfect to cocoon yourself against the cold and they all knit up quickly in heavier weight yarns.

Cast on for one of them today and you’ll soon have a new winter warmer in your wardrobe. After the busy holiday season, it’s time to take it easy and knit something beautiful for yourself.

I used Cardiff Cashmere Classic (DK weight) and Large (aran weight) yarns for the samples for ultimate warmth.  These powdery pastel shades of the yarn are just perfect for winter.

All the patterns are available individually, or you can purchase the Nordic Winter collection which includes all 3 of them.

Keep cosy & stay warm. Happy knitting!

Northern Sky

Northern Sky shawl knitting pattern from Woolenberry

Soft and textured, Northern Sky is knitted from the bottom up with DK weight yarn. The open star stitch creates a light and airy fabric with fluffy textural interest, especially with cashmere yarn. The size is adjustable, so you can make it exactly the size you want. This shawl is a relaxing and meditative knit, with a simple rhythm that is easily memorised after the first few repeats.

First Frost

A quick knit with DK weight yarn, First Frost hat features a textural fabric and a clean silhouette. The optional pompom on top adds a fun detail and lets you personalise the look. This sweet hat knits up quickly and will keep you warm even on the coldest winter day.

Wintering

Wintering cowl knitting pattern from Woolenberry

When the temperature drops and ice flowers decorate the windows, you’ll want to wrap yourself in something voluminous and soft. This lofty and beautiful tube scarf fits the bill perfectly. Wrap it around your neck to hide from the blustery winds and keep warm.

Warm and plush with aran weight yarn, Wintering is a relaxing and meditative knit. The interesting surface texture is created by open star stitch. The length is easily adjustable – you can keep on knitting until you reach the length you want. After casting on provisionally using scrap yarn, the scarf is worked lengthwise and finally finished with a three-needle bind off to close the tube.
